How did you guys move your tank?

my 220 dimensions are 72"x24"x30". dont know the exact weight but its all glass @ 3/4" thick. I'm 5'11" and weigh 200lbs and my buddy was 6'2" and weighs 230. we just he-maned it. slid it out the back of the truck and walked it into the house. went over about 4 stairs.

I have a 500 lb. tank coming in and I have to move it up 4 outside steps and into the house. There is a local aquarium service company here that will move it in and put in on the stand for $180/hr. I moved my last tank in with 4 guys but it was not easy, so I think I am going to pay to have the aquarium co. move it in for me this time and save my back!

Well I tried moving the tank yesterday with 4 people. can't even get that sucker out of the SUV! I think I'm going to need more people. That aquarium service sounds good. I think it only takes 30 mins to move my tank in. $90! :D

Im sure it will be worth every penny! And your local aquarium service co should have insurance to cover anything if they were to damage it..Which hopefully wouldnt happen.

Be careful with glass suction cups, they will slip if not done right,my friend and some others dropped a 240 on one corner and broke the bottom glass,it is made out of 1/2'' glass and weights around 400 lbs.I fixed the tank and I use 4 people to move it. good luck in moveing yours.

i had the same issues moving this 18ft long 3000lb empty tank

funny u say that....moved it with 3 guys, tank was to heavy to lift so we used motorcycle jacks to lift it up 2' and slid the stands under the tank

Where are you guys getting the glass suckers? I don't see it at home depot or lowes.
I called my local glass supply store. They did the glass/mirrors for my bathrooms. They're willing to rent them out for $10 per pair, plus a refundable deposit. They do require me to waive any damages if the suction cups release prematurely, which I'm willing to do.

I also called Two Men and a Truck (or pick your other local small mover). They said they'd move my future 260g (500lbs) for $198/hr M-Th, or $218/hr on weekends (1 hr miminum, time is from door to door). But they're also insured. This assumed a crew of 4 guys.

To the OP - did you get your tank moved? Let us know how it went...

Our local club has Glass clamps to loan to members. I used eight clamps when moving my 750 pound 96x36x26 hybrid tank. With 6-8 guys manhandling it, no problem...
