I am planning on putting a new jaw fish through a tank transfer QT fairly soon and was wondering if I had to provide a container of sand for each QT tank or will they be ok for the short while without?
A PVC pipe should be enough for TTM. Though if you want you can also add some coral gravel to give him something to do. It is easily sterilized by boiling it, so sterilization before and after use is not an issue.
A good cover on the tank/container is much more important.
