Hey guys Was noticing a good amount of ppl do weekly or so dips on their corals But in my tank I have the frags glued to the rocks so it wouldn't seem ideal to snap them off and do dips lol, so what do people do that are in my situation? To prevent the corals from getting diseases n being healthier , cleaner. Or is this something that is even necessary ? I have a hammer, a favia, an acan, a micromussa, a few zoanthid colonies, a chalice, richordeas. Thanks guys

I believe this is only when you first get them and keep them in quarantine for a few weeks. First dip to remove any parasites, second dip a week later to kill off any eggs that hatch, after that just leave them in the display as long as you don't see anything else on them in quarantine.

I am not sure people really do weekly dips. And I am fairly certain snapping off corals to do this would get real old. I mean - I try to mimic whats in the ocean and I am confident that's not done :) IMO, it would more than likely stress the coral. Since iodine makes up .05 PPM in natural seawater anyway, anything you would likely do weekly would overdo it.

- If the concern is build up on the coral, what you might want to do is turn your powerheads up or use a turkey baster to blow off the crap that lands on the coral. Other than that, leave it.
- If the concern is replenishing the depleting iodine, consider dosing it. There is a good article on this board by RHF that shows it's effects (negligible).

To prevent corals from getting disease, growing and staying healthy, simply do water changes.
