How do I detach a small Maxima?

I recently moved my baby Maxima from my nano to a 75. She has been in the nano a year attached to a small rock I've had in t
he sand bed. I want to move her up in the rocks within the new tank. Any ideas on how to get her to detach?

Thanks

if you can't move the rock with the clam then you can cut the byssal thread as far from the clam as possible with a razer or sharp knife. gently tilt the clam to the side and cut very carefully.

The rock is small and I can move both. However, I would like to have the clam attached to it's new location. I'm concerned about cutting the byssal threads as it is very tight to the rock. What about laying it on its side for a while. Would it perhaps adjust to face the light exposing the threads making a cut easier?

I'll try that but perhaps someone has done this.

Ifyou wiggle him back and forth some he should loosen his hold so you can cut the bysal thread. I had to do the same thing to my crocea when I purchased him from a fellow reefer....

I did try to wiggle her with no success though I don't know how hard I could have tried. Impatience ruled and yesterday I used a razor blade to remove her. She was really tight and I could see no sign of the threads...nothing. I hope she isn't injured or adversely exposed. Time will tell.

Thanks for the suggestions.
