i have done that too ,,,, i put mine i my sump for a month or so , until the whole system got used to it then into my display tank ... not much else you can do
if you just need a place to cure the liverock you could put it in a rubbermaid type container with some decent flow on it...I have the one I used for my rock empty right now if you want to borrow it..may not fit all the rock, but it will fit some of it
i just transfered the contents of my 55 and a 90 i bought all into a 70. I used 3/4 of the water from my 55 and the rest was new makeup water. Everything was put in to to huge tubs from home depot each from there respective tank. I then drip acclimated the tub from the 90 t to match the par of my 55. Salinity and temp. I then loaded to 70 with all the guys, coral and fish. I didnt have a cycle and everything is happy. For the record i have only been doing this for about 2 years and dont know nearly as much as these guys on here but this worked for me. If im wrong someone tell me why my theory is off?
If you were to put it into your sump for a while like Murf said, isn't that running through your whole system anyways......What's the difference??????I don't understand.......
I have set a garbage can next to my sump and put an overflow on it and another pump in the sump returing into the can just like adding another tank. If your tank is in your living room that's probably not an option.
And if you smell the rock and it smells like rotting seafood well then adding it to the system would not be good until it re-cycles and settles down. But if it's not stinky or is really mild you should be just fine.
I was in a hurry to go to Canada so I just dumpped the rock mushrooms ans gsp in a tote with saltwater one powerhead and one heater and ran. Hope everything lives what do u guys thing the rocks were in another system for years so it's fully cure
