How do I make my Flagfin eat like a pig?

I have had a yellow flagfin for about 6 weeks now. I have gotten him to eat mysis, spectrum pellets and frozen forumula one. he eats very small portions sometimes only 2 or 3 pellets. I tried offering him the frozen angel formula w/ sponges but he is not interested in that. I feed him several times a day, but I am worried he is not getting enough to eat to make him flourish.

Does anyone else have experience with flagfins? Any ideas on how to get eat more?

It took me quite a while to get mine eating properly, these aren't the easiest angels to feed IMHO. I offer something different every day, to keep his interest up. Mine takes mysis, brine, Marine Cuisine, krill, shrimp, HBH moist pellets, Hikari Marine 'S' and Marine 'A' pellets and, reluctantly, Hikari Angel formula frozen food (usually he'll only take this if he's really hungry). He's a huge fan of both purple and green dried seaweed sheets, I make sure there's some in the tank for him all day long. His all time favourite treat is a freshly opened mussel -- I pick them up live at the market and freeze them. I thaw one every few days, crack it open and drop it in the tank. He goes NUTS for mussel meat and it really rounds out his little belly.
Be patient, you're over the biggest hurdle (getting him to eat at all) and it should only get better from here. My flagfin was returned to the LFS by someone who couldn't get him to eat well -- he was skinny and had the beginnings of HLLE, but what a personality! I couldn't resist. It's been seven months and he's finally looking healthy and filled out, but it's been an uphill battle.

Like blinky said, if your flag is eating at all you are ahead of the game. Mine was a pretty dependable feeder from the get go. I also feed mine a huge variety of different stuff but I am becoming a real believer in new life spectrum pellets (the small 1mm size pellets) and they are my flags favorite food for sure. I also feed nori daily and feed a mixture of different gel based foods in a grid feeder, these grid feeders are great for angels and other reef pickers. He gets O.N. angel formula, formula 1 & 2, PE Mysis, spirulina flake, blood worms, krill, mega marine, ect. A good mix of herbavore preparations and meaty seafoods is a good place to start and like Blinky also said keep the variety coming. Mine was a ready feeder at first but is just a pig now and is really fattening up. I have a few pics of him in my gallery.

like blinky said, dont be affraid to go to the local fish monger and get some mussels, squid legs, scallops, cockles.... freeze them if u want, pry them open and drop em in. in trying to get wild fish used to aquarium conditions just think how you can replicate nature as close as possible, this is the easiest way to get healthy specimens in your tank, then over time adjust them to cheaper man made feeds that they will more readily accept when they are happy in their environment and healthy enough to not realise the difference between foods.
