How Do I quiet down the air intake of my skimmer

Hey i have an ASM G3 and it is really noisey. Most of the noise seems like its coming from the "air intake" of the skimmer. Is there a way to quiet this down? Thanks in advance yall!

I used some 3/8" pvc over the air line and it just so happens that the 3/8" elbow on the end fits snugly into the opening of a 20 oz. soda bottle. From there I ran a piece of vinyl tubing (with a good number of holes as to not restrict the flow of air) the length of the bottle and plugged the end. The air enters the bottle from a few holes in the end. I also filled the bottle with filter floss, which helps quiet it down and removes any air born particles.

I'll probably throw the bottle with the floss in a few months and put on a new bottle with some fresh floss in it.

I'm not at home right now, but I will post pictures when I can.

Take a medicine bottle drill two holes, 1 for the air intake and one for the exit (I used a 1/4in tubing as my exit)..may not be the best looking but it cost me nothing and took 5 minutes to set up.

I had an ASM G-3 on my old tank and the gurgling noise annyed the heck out of me too. My current tank has a reef octopus SRO3000-INT. Google some pictures and take a look at the air intake silencer that comes with it. It works great! I'd take a pic of mine for you, but I'm busy wasting time at work.

Run the air intake tube through a hole in the collection cup lid so its basically suck air from the top of the collection cup. No noise.

turn it off.

Run mines thru my controller. shuts off at 4:30 pm when i get home, turns back on at 11:30 pm when i go to bed :) my skimmer seems to work better with a bit of rest.

I also run a G3. What I did was cut a piece of leftover 1.5" pvc (mine is about 4") get 2 caps for the ends. Drill a hole in each cap and run the airline into one side and a piece of vinyl tubing out the other side to the back of the stand. I used a larger diameter tubing to make sure there was no restriction. Makes the skimmer nearly silent!

Connect a hose to it and run it outside. Not only are you making it quiet, you are also pulling in outside air which will help with ph in a closed up house.
