How do i re-pair Percs that de-paired???

Looks like the pair that got along so swimmingly in the LFS started to de-pair in my QT over the last few weeks. I started to see frayed fins, etc but never any direct aggression while i was observing.

As soon as i put them in the Display Tank, they immediately starting hosting my Toadstool, and the female started to torpedo at the smaller guy repeatedly (making direct hits frequently).

I eventually fished him out and separated them, but now i face the challenge of trying to re-pair them. I've been told not to trust LFS water, but do i bring my fish there and try to pair? Id hate to purchase and try w/ no success then fish out and try again etc etc especially if i plan on observing proper Quarantine procedures.

Anyhow, please help!

Also, my Toadstool is NOT happy w/ the new Perc. Will he eventually adjust to the company, or will he end up beaten and battered by this troublesome little perc too?

Welcome to my world sort of. I bought an expensive torch coral and within an hour of putting it in my tank my clownfish decided to go wild on it. The torch doesn't appear to be very happy at all and some people say that it will be fine and other people say that the torch coral will most likely die...really sucks. My tank is about 2 and a half months old with excellent water conditiions but I would hate buying a BTA..but I don't see many other options unless I take out the torch or the mated true perculas. Sigh sigh!

It may take a few weeks, but the corals will get used to the clown. I had a cup coral Turbenaria that a clown hosted in so long there were no polyps where it stayed, tissue, but no polyps.

Oh yeah, about the clownfish pairing. Were they tank raised?

They may have just been establishing hierarchy.

Not sure if they were tank-raised or not, i didn't think to ask. Do you think i should give it another go once the little guy beefs up and heals a bit?
