How do i split or cut my mushroom?

Do I cut on the edge and just have a chunk or through the center and include a part of the base?

Also what would happen if I just cut the radius (from edge to the center only) of the mushroom?

I put a rubberband around the rock mine was attached to and made sure it lashed across the mouth of my shroom. It split within a couple of days.

It may not be the safest way, but it will work.

Depending on the size of the shroom you are fragging you can get two or 4 frags out of it, you cut straight across, like a pie, be sure to get at least a small piece of the mouth in each section, then place them in a small bowl on top of some ruble rock and seal it off with a piece of bridal vale secured with a rubber band and throw that in your frag tank, or the corner of your aquarium, the shrooms will attach to the rubble within a couple weeks at the most, then can be glued to larger pieces of rock, kind of a quick description but hopefully this helps to give you a better idea, also don't panic a shroom will do fine out of water for around 15 minutes, but the slime makes it a pain to handle lol!!

killer clown fish are you kidding me!!!!!! imagine all the contaminates you spread from blender cup to tank. lol

you were kidding, right. that wont actualy work.....will it?

I could see him using a knife and dicing it up like garlic, but, I have to say he is kidding with the blender.

What I want to know is ...

#1 ... If I have a 1" diameter stalk with head, chop the head off, will the stalk stay 1" diameter or will the stalk still continue to grow outwards?

#2 ... how bad does the stalk look after its cut? Does it produce a horrid look for months?

#3 ... How long does the stalk take to heal to a normal looking head, with/without polyps?

#4 ... how long does it take to get to a natural aesthetically looking state again?

lol, yea, I saw the GARF page on cutting them up. Thing is, I wanted to keep the mother colony in my DT, but, if I am going to be chopping it up, I am curious as to how bad its going to look and for how long. That would determin how I would use and keep a show peice while chopping it all up.

I've heard of more than one person using a blender to frag mushrooms before. Just put a couple shrooms in the blender with some saltwater, give it just a couple quick blasts, you don't want a mushroom puree, put them in a low, low flow tank with plenty of crushed coral or rubble rock, and let them settle. You could also take a deli container, poke holes in the sides and top so the water flows through a little, and put the frag water in it with the rubble.

You should have tons of little baby mushrooms after a few weeks. Not the most celebrated way of doing this, but it's still an option.
