thanx

it has the u-tube correct? If so I have heard that you can remove it, turn it upside down, fill it with water, then cover the ends with plastic wrap. Put it back in the overflow box and remove the plastic wrap.

starting a siphon

starting a siphon

Place a piece of airline tubing into the overflow tube. Make sure there is enough water in both boxes (inside & outside) to cover both ends. Suck on the loose end of the tubing drawing water in from both ends until filled. Try to keep the tubing @ the crown of the tube to get all the air out. Might take a few trys but thats the way to do it.:)

You guys beat me to it but forgot the most important part!

Be sure both the inner and outer boxes are full of tank water. Slip a long piece of airline in the U Tube and position it so that it is @ 12:00. Put the U Tube in the overflow. Both ends must be submerged in water. Suck the air out of the U Tube and the siphon will start

i like this idea better. no risk of swallowing the water, which could be hazardous to your health. but either way, i have used both and end up with the same results, a working overflow :D

Yup, I have had a mouthful of water....let's just say that I had to clean my lunch up from the front of my shirt and the floor....I happened to have Ravioli too!
