How do you auto feed with a mesh top?

I've replaced the glass top on my DT with a screen. I need to autofeed when I go out of town. But I have a wrasse and I'm worried he'll jump out. How do you use an autofeeder and still keep the top secure for jumping fish?

Thanks.

If it is pellets then they should just fall right though it? If not you could always make a small "feeding hole" that doesn't have mesh.

I have a autofeeder that I put in my sump when I'm away for more then 2 days. (I use flake food in it.) Then just put it near your return pump. It works great for me. Been doing this for a few years now. Make sure to test feed a couple times, to get the settings where you want. Being that over feeding is a bad thing.

Very clever idea! In my case, an autofeeder dumps pellets through the mesh.

The screen is 1/4" bird block.

My LFS talked me into Spirulina Brine/Mysis flake mix. He says it's better because it doesn't sink to the bottom.

I'm using an eheim feeder.

I lost 2 fish trying the hole in the screen top to auto feed. Even had it Boxed in once. That's when I came up with the flake food in the sump idea. Normally I feed froozen. Hopefully you have better luck.

I use pellets and flake (break up larger flakes, before putting into autofeeder)... goes right through mesh...never a problem.

I've got a 1/4" mesh top and use 1mm new life spectrum pellets in an Eheim feeder. They fall right through the mesh into a feeding ring that contains them until they sink.
