how do you feed your brain coral?

I tried to put small pieces of scallop on my brains. but it didn't work. i kept the tang away for about ten minutes, but nothing was happening. am i supposed to put it close to their mouth? or do they not eat scallop?

I mash up food into a thin paste and use a syringe to squirt it (gently) on top of the brain. It will respond within a few minutes while I keep the fish away. I've even soaked small pellets in tank water to soften them and, using the same technique, deposited pellets on the disk around the mouth.

Usually, once the lights are lowered the brains start to open and can be fed. As sjwitt mentioned above, place some food on or near the mouth opening and give it a few minutes to open. I was having problems with fish snatching the food before the coral could eat it so I made an acrylic box with holes drilled in the top and sides large enough to allow flow and small enough to keep out fish.

I feed mine 1 hour after lights out. At this time, the feeding tentacles are fully extended. I target feed with a turkey blaster Mysis shrimp on Monday nights and Microvert and Zooplanton on Thursday nights; 2 lid fulls of each.
