I have had a bartlett for a bout a week now and he wont touch a thing. Mysis, mysid, brine, krill, nothin'. He looks to be doin just fine. But he's not eatin". Do they feed off phytoplankton? I read that in an earlier thread. Is that enough? Lemme know thanks!

try formula one or two flake food and crushed it smaller. my anthias, dispar and tri color are crazy for the formula flake food.

I have to agree with reg828 on the flake food. Out of all the things my bartletts like to eat, they seem to go crazy for this flake food.

sweetwater zooplankton

I just got some squarebacks saturday and they were just picking at everything I offered. I tossed in some sweetwater last night and they turned into sharks, racing my tangs to much it down as fast as they could.

Mine loved Frozen Cyclop-eeze and Sweetwater zooplankton.

The addition of more anthias will sometimes stimulate a response as well.

Well if it's alone it will not do as well. Anthias are schooling fish and do much better in groups. If alone it might not eat.

yeah schooling fish, so it might help if he had a mate

also heard that throwing a few small guppies in there for them to chase after helps, never tried it though

Did you try live brine, if available. My single Male Lyretail would only eat the live brine for the 1st week. Then I started mixing frozen with the live. He eventually took to just frozen.

He stop eating for a couple days about a month later. So, I started up with the live brine. And that fixed it. He now eats Prime Reef, frozen Mysids, frozen brine & Sweetwater Zooplankton.

I've had him for over a year and he's been fine by himself. I'm not sure about a Bartlett, but I would try that if you haven't already and if it's available. HTH

I just purchased a 4" male Lyretail last week. He is the only Antias currently in my 400. He will eat anything except flakes. Try mysis shrimp (frozen or fresh), that is a favorite of his. He will swallow Prime Reef and Brine Shrimp plus flakes, but usually spits them out if any other food is available.

HTH
