How do you get rid of bristle worms

I think I may have a small bristle worm infestation. I bought the in store trap, which was a complete waste of $15. It hasn't caught a thing.

Bristle worms normally aren't bad unless they are fire worms, or eating coral. Trapping takes time and patience. They mostly come out at night, so that would be the best time to try. You can always try a piece of shrimp in the trap.

Bristle worms are part of the natural process. Some people can't stand them others don't mind them. HTH John

There only a problem if you happen to grab one. My fuge has a ton of them in it, along with all sorts of other stuff i couldn't begin to name. They do a good job of cleaning up after the fish if nothing else.

Other than the type that eat coral (have never had or seen one) they are a great, cheap way to get rid of what others don't eat. If you have a lot of them, then they are finding a lot to eat! If you get rid of them you'll need to deal with the detritus they used to consume.

I don't recommend killing them either. If you really, really wanted to. You can dose your tank with interceptor that is commonly used for red bug treatments in SPS tanks. That will kill them and just about any other shrimp, crab and most of pod population in your tank.

Okay. I had heard they might be a problem with corals. Since you all seem to have them and don't mind them, I'm happy to leave them be.
