How do you guys run your carbon?

mine is in a filter bag layed across a drilled acrylic plate that sits on top of the return pump the water drips through the bag of carbon before entering the return pump. Simple, cheap but effective

I used to use the tlf reactor for carbon but I got tired of emptying and replacing it. Now I just use the filter bag. placed right next to pump intake.

i am going to switch my carbon being in a phosban reactor to an eheim ecco canister filter....

sooooo much easier to change the media, no freaking screws (i think the new ones dont have it though) but most importantly...it will hold a lot more carbon!!!

I'm using an old Fluval 203 with a couple bags of carbon, the same carbon from Brents group buy. If you use a canister be sure to remove any of the sponges and also change out your carbon often.
Regarding Phosban reactors, they also make good second chambers for calcium reactors.

I wouldn't recommend using a filter sock. You don't want the carbon to roll around and grind into particles. You could however place the carbon in a fine mesh filter bag and drop that in your filter sock.

I think I'm going with TLF 150 Phosban reactor. Its got the new twist on top instead of the old thumb screws now :)

Anyone try using this thing for carbon? it's only $35 at marined depot. :)

I got in on the group buy, it is coal based peletized and acid washed, very good stuff, I run it in an external filter I made.

Very nice !! .. I used to run it in a fluidized reactor but such a pain to disassemble clean.. I just throw it in a bag and toss it into my filter sock...
