How do you keep 50 diff kinds if sps together?

Original questions answer would be with weekly prunning and here is a pic of a. paralis vs sunset

They'll end up touching eventually! You'll end up trimming and fragging for the sake of the corals.

I have let some of my colonies fight it out; one of my Mille's branches has encrusted onto a branch of my Stag. It looks pretty neat.

pic please or it never happened :)

I have a sunset also but it ran into a wall when it met my prostrata and keeps trying but is building a wall on that edge because every time it advances it loses the battle and dies back about a 1/4 " it may be because the prostrata is the furriest coral in my tank.(It looks like a wookie)This might irratate the sunset as it tries to advance

Some larger pieces, some frags. Nothing with names. ID's would be tough. So far, guessing, austera, turaki, unknow stag, insignis.

So your montis just stop growing on that front? An imaginary line is drawn, and the monti just doesn't grow beyond it? How large are the acros?

Perhaps I am just unlucky with my monti choices. I definitely know some other locals that had the same issue with the sunset. Not sure about the hologram though. I know caps were great...they always lost to acros :)

I wanted to just update this a bit. The hologram monti continues to remain at bay :) The sunset is a disaster, and I've taken to kalking it about once a month to keep it contained. So perhaps my blanket statement of all encrusting montis being a problem was incorrect.

this thread brought back to mind a potential problem that i forgot about...for those who say trim, how do you go about doing so with an encrusting monti?
