Thought I'd setup a quick poll on how you maintain calcium.

It the poll answers dont fit, please feel free to post your method(s).

It's very important to maintain alkalinity as well as calcium. I used to only use kalkwasser. Nowadays, 99% of the time I rely on a Ca reactor & kalkwasser. (You'll find that many reactor users still use kalkwasser for top up.)
Sometimes B-ionic. Sometimes baking soda and Calcium Chloride.

Thanks for pointing that out. One thing I have noticed is that in many of the more developed tanks, Kalk alone is not enough. B-ionic alone can cost to much so CA Reactors are more prevalent. Right now I am using 2-part and my budget is a little too tight for a CA reactor. I was using Kalk but the reactor I had (DIY) was a poor performer to say the least. I am looking to replace it as a more cost effective solution to a CA reactor. In your .02, is this wise or should I save for the CA reactor. My tank is a mix of Softies, LPS and SPS. I don't place on any single coral type to dominate my tank any time soon.

I use a calcium reactor. I don't use a kalkwasser reactor (kalkreactor). I saved money on a kalkreactor by dosing makeup water (kalkwasser) manually.
If it were my choice, I'd spend money on a calcium reactor.

FWIW- B-ionic is relatively expensive, but that stuff is like liquid gold for growing corals.

I am primarily calcium reactor with Kalk makeup water as a secondary supliment. I manually mix and drip the Kalk.

IMHO a good calcium reactor is a key investment worth making.

I think and option that include two or more of the above shall be included. I, like many others use more than one method, in my case Calcium Reactor, Kalk reactor and manual dosing if adjustments are necessary.

I use a calcium reactor & Kalk topoffs in the sps tank I use B-ionic. in other tanks and I still use some seachem stuff to make adj

I use a blend of B-ionic along with Saltwater Correct Kalkwasser and Calcium Cloride.

I think I am going to stick with the B-ionic. To make it more simple I am going to invest in either a dosing pump or ESV's automatic bionic system.
