How do you really know?

So I have had my new system up and running for about 4 months now. My brown coral are starting to color up and things seem to be going well. I have been very diligent on water changes and testing my parameters. So my question is which test kit do you trust. I have run tests with both API and elos. Let's take for example my kh hasn't gone above 9 per elos. With the API kit it reads 13. The tank seems to doing fine mind you but which one should I believe. I'm not to the point where I can look at the tank and go " I need to add this or that like some of you. I've been in the hobby or shall I say third job for about three years now. Some of you have seen my system an have all for the most part say things look alright. A penny for your thoughts.

i say if things are fine, dont add or touch anything. I kinda like elos better

I use API KH and Cal, Elos MG.

If you are seeing that big of a difference between the two I would get a third opinion.

I compare all my test kits to "better" brands and always either have Jon at Your Reef, or the guys down at Aquarium Depot test too.

If things are coloring up, then you are headed in the right direction and would be tempted to say your API test kit is off. Also be sure to turn the API bottles completely upside down so you get uniform drops.
