How does everyone mount their birdsnest frags?

It seems that every time I glue a seriatopora to a piece of LR or a frag disc or plug "¦ it always lets go over time.

I see people with these massive colonies "¦ and since they don't encrust onto the rock, I want to know your secrets for successful birdsnest mounts.

I find a small hole and wedge it in there with some glue. I have a 5x5'' green birds nest colony that is held up by a TINY stalk so I know how hard it can be to get them to stay put.

I've just glued mine straight into a small crevice in the rocks. I had a colony of green ORA birdsnest that ended up encrusting enough to hold on. Same with my normal green birdsnest.

If you have a large frag/mini colony, attaching several smaller frags around it jammed in a hole and a good amount of supper glue will eventually make one large colony when it grows in. Obviously this requires a good amount of coral and somewhat pourous rock. Next best would be mounting sideways with several attachment points.

when you cut them you end up with a flat surface. I just glue that down on a plug if I'm mounting it on a plug, If not i just wedge it and they sort of grow in until they are stuck

How does this coral grow in the wild? No one is glueing or puttying it into rocks there … and if it doesn't encrust … how on earth does it survive and grow naturally ??

I've noticed it encrusts slightly. I have a bop colony that literally started as a 1/4" nub. It encrusted the entire plug. But in general, the do not encrust.
