.... Some reasons are simple to explain and some are not, but public banter within an impersonal forum such as this might make some members uncomfortable about attending future meetings.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of it like that. I'd like to see more people attend the meetings and not feel uncomfortable about doing so. I also used to have to work weekends, so I know how that is. I didn't mean to make you feel like you had to explain yourself, Robert. I hope your new tank is coming along well.

As far as people being intimidated by the long term members, I think gaining knowledge from these members is one of the main benefits of joining the club. So if you have thought about joining, we have some members with a vast amount of knowledge in this hobby that can help you plan a new setup or maintain your existing one. It is nice to be able to talk to someone that has been there and done that.

Well said "alkamar", "luckyarbuc", and "crpeck"

I well remember feeling "intimidated!" as I tried to slide in an hour late after my Saturday work shft at a meeting held at Homer Skelton Ford, and then walking up to a "unknown to me persons" home at the next meeting I attended, and my wife along with me said "I can not believe you are going to knock on someones door you do not evern know "I am so glad that I did"

I have met some really great people who have shared there knowledge, and experiences with me that have made my start into this hobby much easier. They have also made many of the "frustrations and setbacks easieer to deal with as they have been there themselves"

I can only encourage anyone that is intereseted in this Hobby to "Jump on in, and walk up to that persons door where that meeting is held, there will be many on the other side of that door that will share there homes, knowldge, bantor, and some will even share a "frag" or two at times.

And beside that, It is kinda cool trying to put faces on all those silly "avatars and screen names" you see on these threads.

I look at my tank as I write this and smile at the additions that I have made to this tank through the membership, watching my clowns play in the "Xenia" given to me by"Snakemanvet" and seeing the Bright neon green "Sarcopyton" Toadstool my wife won at another meeting donated by "crpeck" The bright Orange "Zoos" from "Reefdiver 77", the Candy cane from "Glitzyone" as well as The other corals that I have added from others. We have a very diverse group with one very common bond" We all have a little bit of that Saltwater running through our veins. I can not name the people that have helped me out even today! " Thanks again "Dr. Peaches for your help today"

Thanks to all the club members that have welcomed me and my wife into this group!!
