how far to push the impeller in

I have a 6045 and the impeller wasnt spinning, so i took it out and now it spins for a couple seconds and then gets dislodged. How far do i push it in?

Are you referring to the impeller or the shaft? The impeller you just drop in, you cant put it in too far. Did the shaft pull out when you removed the impeller?

It should seat correctly by just dropping it in on the metal shaft which should be permanently part of the pump. It sounds like maybe the shaft got pulled out, in which case the pump may or may not be repairable. The shaft should be rigidly fixed in the base of the motor.
