How fast does a pacific blue tang grow?

I just got one about 2" long today, and I'm wondering how long I have until he outgrows my tank. My tank is 30 gallons, but I think he'll have plenty of swimming room to play with until he gets about 5".

well, they typically get rather large, about 8-10 inches.

Had one traded it for a lion, but it easily grew 4 inches in the first year.

I have had blue tangs for many years and they require lots of swimming room. Putting that fish in that tank would be like placing you in a 8x8 book as a 5 year old and asking you how long till I have to move you to a bigger box.
