I just watched a tidal gardens video and he just said the something I said earlier in this post.... corals go through trends of whats popular and pricey. seems this year its acros, last year was bounce mushrooms and the year before that was zoas. The something happens though, the 500 dollar tiny frags start to have the prices drop and the same frag is now 100 bucks or even cheaper.

Yes, it's absolutely ridiculous. I've been in this hobby for 16 years and I remember when people started naming zoanthids and demanding outrageous prices 14 or so years ago. Just because a coral has a fancy name doesn't mean it's worth any more than another of the same species. Sure, brown palythoas won't command the higher price than green palythoas but to name them 'super nuclear green palythoas' to get an even higher price because of the name just boggles my mind. I remember when SPS were just labeled with their species identification and were pretty colored sticks.
