Hey everyone,

Just wanted to know if it is really hard to breed clowns, I was thinking of setting up a tank to try it out. Never tried and could use some good advice/ direction.

Thanks for any help

Hello EJ,

We all recommend you read Joyce Wilkerson's Clownfishes book, and all the stickies at the top of this forum.

yep get the book its good!

ohh and look forward to about 200 bux (problly more) just to raise one hatch, you probly wont keep the first ones alive but keep trying

Worth a try and very rewarding!

On the hole happy clowns will breed in TIME... time being the factor.

it is very easy to do on the cheap, you dont need a fancy system set up. A small tank with a couple of airstones in will seee you good. If the breeding bug bites it can be a dear do, be warned!

The time you will have to dedicate to raising larvae is something you will have to consider, i find this this the biggest hurdle.

The thing is to let the clowns settle and keep them happy. While this is happening you will have plenty of time to research and practice raising food cultures.
As above Joyces book is a good choice, and a great read if you arnt breeding so worth the expense.

HTH
