how hardy are more rare clowns?

are the more rare/fancy clowns just as hardy as say a regular pair of PC's or OC's? I want to get a nice fancy pair but I'm afraid to spend the money....

That's a difficult question to answer. It depends on many conditions, so no one will be able to tell you definitively one way or the other.

A robust pair of fancy clowns will be healthier than a weak pair of regular clowns. Likewise, clowns from the wild can be healthier or not, depending on the condition in which they are brought in, and how well they take to captivity.

You are better off only buying clowns that you can see first hand, and making sure they are hardy and healthy before you buy them.

It really depends on the species too. Some speices are better than others. I have found Nigripes and Tricinctus to not be very hardy in my opinion. You would have to research the individual species.

You can add A. chrysopterus to that list as well...

Agree w/ previous comments.
FWIW when I got my picasso's which were probably just old enough to be shipped to me, I thought they looked so very fragile, I was kinda stressed about it.
And that very same week my tank was hit for my first and only time getting marine ich, so these guys got hit w/ a nasty introduction to my system, and I was sure they would die.
But they kicked it, and at a very young age.

i really like picassos. Maybe those are what I'll get :) good to know they survived all that. I'll do more research before i decide
