so basically im looking to find out how harmful 1.008 sg compaared to 1.009? to the fish of course, i would rather be a little under 1.009 than a little over ;). just dotn want any negative affects on my fish thanks all

1.08 is exactly the internal sg of a marine fish.

theoretically therefore it is ok but if your calibration is out then you are below and you are stressing the fish.

1.09 is the way to go.

ich dies at 1.10 so 1.09 has a margin for error stick to it.

ok so ick dies at 1.10 that makes sence then, my refractometer shows just over 1.008 and inbetween 12 and 13 ppt

just be careful any lower than 12ppt and you are stressing the fish. bring it up slightly actoaly evaperation should do that it's self.

yes im hoping my salinity level is low enough if i dont do top off for a few days it wont rise past 1.009 ;) oh so mimic if it dies at 1.009 thats like 13ppt. and i was told by terry that anything below 16ppt would be fine which is closer to 1.010 but we should shoot for 14ppt which is just over 1.009 to be safe ;) and terry knows his stuff ;)
