How important are center braces on tanks?

I have decided to do a frog setup in the 52 flat hex. I was wondering since there won't be much water, probably no more than 5 gal. could I get rid of the braces? The tank has 3, 2 on the sides and one center. Even if I kept the center and cut the 2 sides, that would probably help when building the background. I'm definately gonna try the foam and mopani wood for background.

if nothing else, i have seen people cut them out & replace them w/ acrylic rod to reinforce the glass. that leaves the structural integrity but allows light to pass thru
:)

is it the plastic braces? it they are yes you could get rid off them I had a 55 that the center one broke when I moved it and it still held water to the top so I thing for a frog tank you would be ok. A dremel works for cutting them

cool. Yea, they are plastic. I'm gonna leave the center as it doesn't really get in the way. Its the 2 smaller braces on the sides. Now off to the drawin' board on designing a background. I think I will the water fall to the pond in the center with land on both sides. They way I'm picturin' it, it's gonna be sweet, the hard part is doin' it!

I have been reading up on the builds and here are a few links if you haven't already seen them... One thing I noticed is the one guy uses yellow cheap foam since the caulk is colored and you hide it anyways. The critter wanted $15 for black foam so I am just gonna use the regular $ stuff but I got brown and black silicone to vary the color some incase the coco fiber falls off for some reasons. I also am definetly going to smear the black caulk on the inside of the walls as the same build shows. AC used the black sticky tank back to hide the sides of there builds but it would look much neater made with black silicone from the inside IMO. They had some really nice wood when I was there!
Look in the big tank in the center of the reptile room for a big peice.... They had some stored in there. I was so torn over it and the one I got. It was a jumo and just a little to big for my tank but a very cool shape!
