how is big the Non-Photosynthetic Corasl's mouth?
of a corals like a gorgonia and dendronephthya i would know what is the right size of phytoplancton and zooplancton for this corals...
They can have anything from a very small to a large mouth, the presence of zooxanthellae does not have anything to do with it.
What's more, the size of the mouth does not necessarily correlate with the accepted food particle size or composition. In general corals with large mouths can eat small particles but not the other way round
I have some azooxanthellae gorgonians that seem to accept anything they can fit into their mouths and others that are very selective so the quality of the food is also very important in some cases.
I have sun corals that i feed whole chunks of krill and silversides occasionaly, i found that with dendros and sun corals they can open there mouths as wide as there body is and especially with my sun coral i noticed it can inflate its body to about twice its size to be able to eat a big chunk of silverside
For those i would try cyclopeeze. it is small enough and stays suspended in the water column. For bigger ones like dedros, sun corals, balanophylia and rhyzo you can try mysis, small pieces of sfrimp etc....
