Yesterday i droped my Cannon in my fishtank taking some top down pics,i imedately grabed it out, removed batteries, card,& set it to dry.Tonite i put new batteries in,& wala it works. No water in lense at all.
I would send it off and get it cleaned. You did not say what kind of camera or how much it cost... but the salt deposits will take their toll. I have ruined a pentax and two AE1s surfing... 1 was dunked (overhead shore break after hugo), the other two were "almost saves" but in all 3 cases the cameras lived a very short life after the saltwater.
Yeah, I'd send it off for a proper cleaning and service.
And this is why (getting on soapbox) I always remind people to ALWAYS use your wrist strap or neck strap!!!!! No matter what you are doing with the camera...unless it is sitting on a table or on a tripod you should ALWAYS use those little "safety" devices to prevent drops/falls. My wife and I have learned the hard way. It ain't pretty.
Even when you're being careful....you just never know.
