How long can coral be out of water for?

Hey fellow reefers!

So I was wondering for no reason what so ever how long coral( such as for example GSP) can survive out of water but still be moist? As a scenario, lets say somebody was changing the rock work and accidentally put a GSP frag in the bin and didn't realise until the next day and then put the coral back in their tank. What do you suppose the chance of the frag surviving?

ive had polyps sit under a 250w mh on the eurobracing of a tank for a few hours and comeback... a lot of corals are exposed during low tides.. so if you left some gsp out for 24 hrs id expect some die off but should eventually comeback

Thanks for your response. I expect to see alittle die off and if it comes back at all Ill be more than happy. At the minute it just seems like it is just very upset...
