How long can my open brain go with just light?

How long can my LARGE(Football sized at inflation) 5 mouthed open brain go with just light and rodifers. I would have my sitter feed him but I like to keep an eye on my butterfly who pokes him after he eats for a day (I guess the brain smells like krill, anyone else see this with their cb butterfly).

Ive had a bubble coral for 25 years and I never feed it. I'm assuming it gets food when I feed the fish though.

Ive kept alot of corals over the years including LPS and never really fed them much if at all and they were fine. I wouldnt worry about it.
I'm not saying you should never feed them. I'm sure they grow faster if you do but I don't think it's necessary especially if your feeding your fish.

second that, feeding is just an extra for the coral, they get all their energy from your lights and DOM in your water.

I always thought that brains needed extra supplemental feedings because it didn't do as well as the rest of my corals (which just had light)

In the wild I don't think they get fed four times a week :)
I've seen many brains flourish without any supplemental feeding, however feeding is a plus ... a bonus. The brain should be able to rely on photosynthesis for most, if not all, of it's metabolic needs.

My brains grow like crazy and I never do any direct supplemental feeding. They get whatever they can catch when I feed the rest of my tank. I currently have a brain that is producing a baby beside it. It has now almost completly detached from the mother colony and is firmly attached to another rock.
