How long can zoas/palys stand TMPCC dips?

I'm adding some zoas to my acro tank, and would like to completely eliminate the possibility of adding acro eating flatworms as hitchhikers. So I'd like to dip them in TMPCC, was thinking of going a stronger dosage - but how long can they take the exposure. Acros are ~15 min, I'm thinking zoas/palys can take longer exposure.

Has anyone tried dipping them? And if so, at what strength and for how long?

Thanks!

David

When I used to use TMPCC for aefw dips on acros..I used it on polyps as well and you defintely do NOT want to exceed the recommended dosage concentration or duration.

I use TLF pro coral cure now as it is at least as effective as tmpcc and much less harsh on the sps.

I will still use iodine on occasion on polyps....but not for new arrivals

David, I use revive on my zoas for 10 mins before I even think about putting them in my dispaly. I do lose some, but its well worth the cost.

Oh man you're scaring me. You do lose some zoas from 10 minutes in revive? I have a couple bottles of that also but I never used it.

These zoas have been in their own tank for at least 6 weeks w/o any acros. From what I've heard, worst case scenario is that eggs were laid the day I took them out, eggs hatch in a few weeks and would certainly die with no food supply for a few weeks. I'm just being EXTRA cautious, with my luck SuperAEFW lived.

BTW I ended up giving what I had left of my acros to Frank Burr for him to see if he can kill the buggers. Boy it was hard seeing so many hard to find corals go bye-bye. :( Waaahhh!

I have been battling monti eating nudis. One of my encrusting montis has about 12 zoa polyps on it. Real neat ones too, green skirt, red center and a yellow mouth. I haven't seen any others like em.

Starting 3/1 i began dipping all my montis in 4X strength of TMPCC for 20min at a time. Sunday was my 7th dip in 7 weeks. The zoas show absolutely no effects of the dip. They are back open sooner than the montis are. No color loss, no slowing in growth either.

I now dip all my zoas in TMPCC.

I dip all my new frags in TMPCC, including Zoos. I use it as directed. 1ml TMPCC to 200ml saltwater and leave in for 10-15 minutes. I have not lost any Zoos to the dip, but it is interesting to see what does falls off.

I typically overdose TMPCC (I add SPS more frequently than I add zoas, too, FWTW) and my zoas don't like it a whole lot. tend to run longer on the dip, too, which seems to have a negative effect, too. Most of the recover, but a few didn't. I may have lost two (likely getting a ship and dip the same day) and have probably dipped 30 or so frags. Not horrible, but not really good, either. A heavy Lugol's FW dip doesn't seem to tick my zoas off as much as TMPCC, FWIW.
