My L1 vectra return pump quit on me yesterday. Luckily I had back up one. I'm just kind of surprised that it lasted only 2.5 years of use on high speed.
How long did yours last?

My M1 lasted 3 years. When it crapped out i bought a new M2. Figured id call ecotech for the heck of it and they sent me a brand new m2. Now i have a spare. Cant say enough about ecotechs customer service. Because of their service, im thinking of fitting my 220 with radions....

Are you sure it's the pump and not the power supply? They have had some issues with power supplies dying, which makes the pump inoperable.

FWIW,
Kevin

well, came home today, got on computer start researching about it. found out that i have to clean them!!!!!!! took it apart right now. and impeller was super hard to come out. has alot of gunk build up in there.
when i took impeller out i pluged the pump back to the outlet, i heard the noise coming from motor. so i know im getting power to my pump.
right now i have pump components soaking in the vinegar with water.

I also read that alot of this pumps melt inside causing it to swell up. so i hope thats not the case for me

so after somewhat cleaning it. tried to assembly pump back. And impeller was still hard to go back in. judging bu the was the housing look. i would say my pump melted also.

Shame such a pricey item isn't better built.

What's the warranty like on those? That seems like it should be covered. Please tell me it's not some stupid 1 year warranty on a $500 pump

i have no idea what warranty is on them. but i went and got 2 Jebao DCP-20000 Return Pumps for less money then this ecotech one. besides i weren't happy with the flow it was making at 100% anyways.

Not melted.

It looks more likely the impeller rubbed the lining away. this would allow water between the lining, oxidizing the block, and causing swelling - the raised bumps.

Just looked at the ecotech youtube video of this pump - there was a lot of material rubbed away on your pump.

I'd encourage you to contact ecotech.

Not a return pump, but most of the MP10 & 40s I own rust after a year or two. Ecotech is more than happy to sell a replacement wet side assembly though. :D

Here is verdict to my problem!
First of all thank you, thank you for advising me to call them.
I'd encourage you to contact ecotech.
I did call them (super friendly costumer service)
And even though I bought the pump back in 2016. They will warranty it. As of right now they are shipping me L2 vectra replacement pump. Which btw is a improvement pump not to cause that kind of internal melt down.

Now that I'm thinking about my old pump. I always had it running on max speed. The last couple of months I did noticed the flow was not as it use to be. Now I know why!

My massage to all you l1 owners. Please spent 10 minutes of your time to take your pump apart and see or feel similar bumps such like mine did. If so contact ecotech costumer service with a concern that it's about to fail. All this cost me is a 1$ to warranty my pump.

I got 2.5 years out of my l1 pump. I believe I can get way more out of l1 pump.
