Which tang are you talking about? I have a yellow which is going on 6 years and in perfect health.

One of my LFS has a Yellow Tang that is pushing 25 and a Purple Tang that is over 20.

24 hours if a novice puts them in a 20 gallon tank with plans to 'upgrade' next may or a potential of 25+ years if kept in the right setup with the right care.

I know there are angels which have been in captivity for up to 45 years (think it may be a touch more) but I'm sure I read of a tang being about 40 living in a public aquaria.
