How long do you guys keep sea veggies in tank?

The directions say a few hours but I know some who keep it in longer.

OH!Does anybody want to buy a $100 Target gift card? I would rather spend the $100 at John's:D
 
When I started I took it out after 2 hours and it was mush. Now I know how much they will eat in that period of time and that's all I feed.
 
Buzz, My fish eat my Nori almost as fast as I can put it in there. But, if it stays too long it starts to stink. Pull it out and smell it :) and if it stinks, toss it.
 
Try Korean stores (Choi's or Shinsegae) on Jordan lane/Patton Rd. If you are going to Coral Reef Aquatics, you can stop by at International Super Market in Madison. They all have Nori (algae), Wakame (kelp) and Konbu (kelp) in big packages.

Yes. Thanks Tomoko. Buzz , I get mine at the Shinseage on Lily Flagg. But you kind find it just about anywhere like Tomoko says. I get a package of about 100 sheets for $9.99. Make sure you get the plain (roasted usually) only variety, i.e. no salt or oils added. I have tried different greens, but they really seem to like this best. And they are very fat. :) The sheets are over twice as big as Sea Veggies, and so are very economical.

I don't feed Nori much anymore, but I like soaking it in Zoe when I do.

LOL Good one Mariner.

I don't soak mine. That is strange Tomoko - that your fish will not eat it. My fish eat it out of my hand - they cannot wait until I put their feeding rock on the bottom of the tank. But, the fish are mostly all surgeons. The clownfish also eat bits of it that float up, and the yellowhead goby eats off the rock too. I do have to say though, that my meat-only eaters will not eat the Nori.
 
I wish my foxface rabbit fish will eat Nori out of my hand, but he is scared of his own shadow. My clownfish and yellow stripe cardinal will come right up to my turkey baster, though. They do not eat Nori, of course.

I see my foxface coming out a bit more recently after my daugher put a royal gramma into the tank as a Christmas present. The foxface must feel safer when there is a fish hanging out in the open. He nibbles off a small piece of garlic soaked Nori and quickly hide in the rock work to eat it. Funny fish he is...

My foxface is the same way. If you approach the tank to fast he will spike up and change from a bright yellow to a dull grayish yellow along his back and his face gets all spotty. Walk away and he lets his guard down... I think they are just skittish fish..I don't think I would risk hand feeding him..They are venomous you know ;)
 
The fish in one of my tanks are tame, and in the other they are more skittish. I think they take their ques from whichever fish is the "leader". Kinda like dogs and horses. :)

I know what you mean about dither fish Tomoko. When I first got one of my tangs, he was scared to come out. I added some chromis' and they brought him out of hiding. He is fine now.
 
Thanks, Lori. I guess I gotta be the fish whisperer. :lol: Reilly and I are trying to train our new little Duchshund puppy Henry. Reilly is doing his whisperer thing on Henry. Henry is also a bit shy and has a mind of his own.

Anytime he wants, Reilly is welcome to have a crack at our not-so-puppy-anymore terrier who also has a mind of her own!
