How long does frozen food last?

Oh fine, so I'm the nudge.
To the OPs intended question ..... I buy frozen in bulk (about a year's supply) and it lasts just fine as long as the pack remains sealed. The only complaint is from my kids because there's less room in the freezer for ice-cream.

Actually, it doesn't stay 'fresh' indefinitely. Home freezers don't get cold enough to completely stop all biological processes, they slow it down significantly and it will last awhile, but certain functions that strip away nutritional benefits continue. There was an article on reefs.com a year or two ago. The article focused on how it pertained to mysis. Mysis gets darker the longer the process continues. If memory serves me right the article recommended only 6-12 months for frozen.

I hunt and it's widely accepted among that cohort that venison is good until next season (and that's for human consumption). I hold to the rule of anything properly and continuously frozen is good in your typical freezer for about a year.
If it's going to take up real estate in your freezer for that long it had better be in short supply (game meat due to season restrictions) or an exception deal to buy in that much bulk.
Or you want to keep from irritating your significant other with the make-your-own-fish-food-in-OUR-blender mess to just once a year
