how long for anemone to adjust to new clown?

I jsut got a maroon clown for my tank. Good thing is that he went right to my BTA within 5 minutes and is hosting in it now. Bad thing is that the anemone closed up nearly all the way. In addition to that, the anemone is anchored in the back of the tank so when it closes up I can't see it! How long will it take for the anemone to accept the clown and stay open?

the anemone is around a foot when it's fully opened. Seems very healthy. Always open, feeds well (i feed it silversides and mysis 3x a week soaked in Zoe and Zoecon), has good color, no tears in the foot etc. I'll try to get a pic tonight. The anemone has set up shop in the back of the tank so it's kinda tough.

I can't get a pic tonight since it's closed up. Was it a bad idea to get a maroon clown? I hadn't heard anything bad about them and BTA's.

Here's the best pic I found. The foot is anchored about 6" up off the bottom and it stretches out during the day and the tentacles extend a few inches above the rock. In this pic, it's not fully extended.

Not if the BTA is healthy and large enough. IMO you have both. How long have you had this anemone?

For an update:

It's been two weeks and all is well with the 'nem and clown. It took a full week for the anemone to begin to expand again. The clown hosts in it during the night and a little bit during the day but most of the time he's hanging out in a little rock crevice unless there's food in the tank. Then he's all over the place.
