How long for new Zoos to open?

Yesterday I brought home 3 Zoanthid frags (no idea on the color name) and tonight only one of them is open. The other two are completely closed. I have them placed low in the tank (BC29) which has retrofit LEDs. I have the whites turned down to 50%...Should I turn the blues down as well? If water quality was poor I would think the one colony would not be opening up. The only thing I can think of is the light might be too bright for them. They were just starting to open last night when the lights went out. My timer got shut off by accident so I had no lights on today til about 730 EST and I still only have 1 colony opening up. What gives? Gonna test water in a few mins.

Params:

Temp: 79*
SG: 1.028 (bringing this down slowly, not sure how it got so high)
pH: 8.2
Ca: 440
Alk: 8-9
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0

How long before I can expect them to open up?

they can take a while to open dont worry they do this on there own sometimes. They can get sensative during travel.

It might take a few days. Try putting it in low flow first. If that dont work try to increase the flow a bit more. But I wouldn't put it in direct flow...

I had a piece of zoa that took about 4 days to open. So just be patient.

Sometime parasite such as nudibranch, sundial snail, zoa spider can cause them to close.

I suggest you dip all the corals you get to ensure that no parasite or pest are introduce to your tank.

Thanks. I didn't mean direct I just meant increased. I dipped them prior to introducing them and nothing fell off but some pods. I inspected them closely for parasites and they are from a reputable source.

In that case give it a few more days and see how it goes. Hopefully it will open up soon.

BTW, I would start a the bottom of the tank so the zoa are aclimated to your light. Usually when it's too strong they tend to close up.

Still not open...while the one colony that has been opened is fully open and looks great. Lepastrea is starting to show some PE as well. I moved the other 2 Zoas down into some shade.

Just added my frogspawn and green nepthea last night and they are fully open today as well. So I know it's not my water at least.

As long as they aren't showing signs of disease, melting, etc. then wait things out. If you keep moving them around you can restart the process again.

Oh and a month for me I think has been the longest. This was a frag from my tank that was moved to a new area under a PAR 38 bulb.

It is now showing growth after a few months btw.

Thanks everyone. They are really nice frags, I didn't pay much for them but I'd be disappointed to never see them open. On one polyp of one of the frags I can kinda see the tentacles/"eyelashes" and it's open a tiny bit, so maybe that's some progress.
