i've had my perc clown for about 4 months, and for christmas my friend showed up at my house with a gorgeous bta. i've had it for two days now but my clownfish isnt showing any desire to live in it, which dissapoints me. how long does it usually take for the clown fish tto accept it?

Percs aren't natural hosts for BTAs, so it may never accept it. Then again, I assume it could at any point. However, I have a pair of maroons and a sebae, and both hosted their respective anemones within 12 hours...for the maroons, I swear its a matter of minutes.

yup, I just put my new BTA in for my maroon, and it only took as long as it took for him to notice the BTA...which was about 2-3 mintues he was in it.

which was the same case for the BTA I had previously

I've had percs that hosted in a bubble right away. I wouldn't give up on them hosting in anywhere in the near future. Sometimes they take to them after a long time, 1+ years. Just have a little patience.

IME the more natural the anemone looks to them the more likely they will host. I have had green BTA's and the Rose BTAs and they always go for the green ones quicker. These are just my observations, the others have given good advice- dont give up too quick.
