how long has your return pump been running?

I have a Rio 2100 and has been running for just over two years. I think I have taken it apart once to clean it. So far so good........

I ran three Iwaki 55's (japanese motors) for about a year before one of them wouldn't restart after a water change. I took it apart and cleaned it and it's run fine for about another year at this point.

i have a question, about turn over. shouldn't you have qa 30 times turnover rate? i will have power heads, so do i need this much?

Your powerheads will be much more flow than your return pump. That's where the majority of the 30X's flow will come from.

I was told from a vendor that one of the VP's or top engineers for Iwaki left and formed Blue line pumps. I have ordered and received two Blue lines. One 20HD, 480 gph and the other 40HD, 790gph. (tank return and Bullet One skimmer-PM) Both seem to run well, I've only had them on a couple of months. They are incredibly quit! No noise. I had a little giant that was so loud in comparison.

ome maxijet 1200, one year running. I had an Iwaki 40, but too much noise and heat. The maxijet is virtually silent. Total sump flow @ 5ft head = 80 gallons per hour. Tiny, but appearantly enough. One day, I want to try a Poseidon, they're supposed to be silent. Anyone tried one?

From my understanding the Poseidon and my Velocity are the same pumps. I have two of the Velocity T2s, let me say the silent is an understatement. If it wasn't for water movement I could never tell they were on. ( Two different tanks ) They do tend to run a bit warm, but I haven't had any issues of my tanks being too warm because of them.

I've used Japanese Iwaki's for 15 years now, I'm on my third one. Failure mode was too much noise.

Maxijet 1200's 6 years.

Mag 9.5 for 3 years. Cleaned a couple of times, mainly before long vacations when I get nervous and clean and quintuple check everything on the tank.
