How long should quality probes last?

Hi everyone,

How long should good quality probes last in continuous immersion as long as they are cleaned and maintained regularly?

I'm talking ORP probe, Conductivity (Salinity) made of platinum, Dissolved Oxygen, PH. These are the GHL probes sold for the Profilus controller by the way.

Thanks,

James

Until calibration is no longer accurate. (calibrating then putting the probe in distilled water and then put back into the cal sol and the reading is not where it should be.)

I usually toss probes after a year. But it depends on the probe some sooner some later.

It really depends on the care the probe has received and the quality of the probe itself. I've seen some probes get fairly messed up in less than a year while I've seen other probes that were working quite well after 3, 4, 5 years or more.

Thanks guys,

I take it that lab-grade would last longer then standard-grade?

James

If well cared for, often yes. One can easily ruin a $400 ROSS pH probe in a few months just like an el cheapo probe with poor care and storage.
