How long should you wait...

before introducing a anemone to your tank? My tank has been up since the end of May is it to soon? What is the best type to get for a couple perculas?

Are your params stable?

I think that's really the base question when deciding when it would be appropriate to adding an anemone to your tank.

That, and when you decide on a 'nem, then do more research on it to see what it requires.

:)

I would give it at least six months after getting the tank cycled. No sense in subjecting a sensitive creature to unstable parameters and the swings involved with newer tanks.

get a water test for alkilinity, ph, nitrates, and calcium. check your salinity and have an established tank for a month at least.

all of my parameters have been good and stable for a few months now. I'll give it awhile longer and shop around some more. any advice on a good first anemone?

I waited like 2 months before getting my nem, it's been fine, actually gotten better than how it was at the LFS. I would say as long as the tank's been stable for a bit, you should be fine.

Entacmaea quadricolor is an anemone that is readily available and is known to split in captivity. They come in green and the highly desirable "rose" colours.
