How long to let pvc cement and paint dry?

I built my own spraybar (36 inchs) along with a output for the pump from my sump to the tank. I glued everything with PVC Primer and cement and painted it with krylon plastic black paint. How long should I let it all dry before I stick it in my tank?

Ok, I assume its ok that I got some pvc cement in the actual tube were water will be flowing through? Nothing should leach through?

PVC cement isn't really cement. It is a solvent. It actually "melts" the two pieces together. It is very very volatile. It is mixed with a little PVC monomer to thicken it. The solvent goes away within seconds. Its pretty much safe to use right away.

The paint I would give a couple of days though.

Depends on the cement.
Christy's- sold at home depot and irrigation stores, can be pressurized within 5-10 minutes. Turf-tite as well, along with Weldon 750.

All others are sub-par.

The solvent sets in minutes, and is cured up to 180 PSI in about an hour. I've never had a single problem when I have used it is minutes, waiting 48 hours is useless.

all others are pretty much the exact same as those you mention, as a mater of fact the regular oatley product sold at HD and other BBox stores has the exact same ingredients as turftite and the weldon product, and barring a couple extra ingredients it is also the exact same as the christies...

I would wait 48 hours for the paint. He just wasnt asking about the cement. I too have used pvc glue within 15 min.

I diden't use a paint primer, but I did use krylon paint for plastics. This hsould be safe after 48 hours of drying right?

you dont need a primier with krylon for plastics. 48 should be more than enough. If you really want give a quick soak in freshwater before putting it in. Not necessary though. For your reference i painted a pipe with krylon then leak tested it about 2 hrs later and had no ill effects. Granted it wasnt on the main system and it was only a leak test but the pain stood and nothing came off the pipe. I wouldnt suggest doing this if it was going into the main system, but just thought that might help you out
