How long will it take a paired clownfish to mate?

Once the clownfish are paired how long will it take them to mate? And is it true that the offspring of two Snowflake clowns won't live?

The time it takes for them to mate or lay eggs is different for everyone. One thing you can do is give them a peacful home without aggressive tank mates. Also, feed them well.
The offspring will have a chance to live however, the more you inbreed the higher occurance of deformities you'll have.

Slightly aggressive tank mates may actually help, especially if the clowns have an anemone or a suitable surrogate.
A spawning pair of another species may also help to get them into the mood.

I hope I don't get an inbred pair, there's no way to know though with stores. And really? so if I'd put a damsel in there it'd help? I never heard that one lol, I always thought they'd delay mating...

I would say more often than not the pairs are from the same hatch, it's just the easiest way for the stores to pair them up.

That's why I only breed with pairs where at least one partner is wild.
With clownfish, due to all the designer mixes and hybrids with murky lineage, I wouldn't touch anything beyond grade A and F1 generation from a reputable breeder.

ThRoewer, if I was going to breed clowns I would have the same approach that you do. The Percula pair that I have I'm sure were from the same hatch, but I don't have any ambitions of trying to raise the fry. My pair are as perfectly matched as I've ever seen which looks great. I'm however getting disgusted with them not being hosted by any one of my 4 BTA's.

So I'm thinking about either trading them in for a different pair or trying to find a small gig. I do have reservations about getting a gig. I'm worried it would eat other fish in the tank, and then have to worry about how big it will get in my 40b. Maybe get a small one 6" or so and not directly feed it or if I do not very often so it doesn't grow too quickly.

Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on this?
