How long will Kole tang hide?

My new Kole tang has been hiding 24 hrs a day for two full days. I saw him eat some pellets at the LFS but not sure if he is last couple days. I put seaweed on a clip but he didn't come out to touch all day so I removed. I put in some rods food, not sure if he ate any under the rock he's been staying under. He's alive in there I think he's staring at me when I peek in on him.
I have two clowns, a bicolor blenny but other than that just blood, cleaner and peppermint shrimp (1 each) and cuc. It's a 90 gallon reef tank with lots of swimming space around the 60lbs of rock.
Is this normal? It's my first reef tank. Any tips on easing him out or have you guys experienced this same behavior? Thx

Only one anecdote not a generality but mine was very very shy at first and after many months is still very skittish.

mine was also very shy at first. luckily..or unluckily..depending on how you look at it. my flame angel was bullying my kole tang the first two days so he didnt let the kole tank hide in the rockwork. now they are best of buds and hang out all the time.

Mine was pretty shy in QT, but ate well and was generally active. Once he got to the DT, he did great (and still is).
