How lucky am I?

My bta started moving around and somehow got caught up in the current. I left for 30min and when I came back, found him like this

Holy!!! Super lucky I'd say. I would have done a cartwheel over the dining room table to get to the tank fast enough to cut the power to that powerhead.

Yea that's the foam covers and I just raced to turn off the power on it so it wouldn't get sucked in. I turned it back on later.

Not sure. I'm not even sure how it was hanging on when the stream was blowing out.

Fair enough. It's just that I'm looking at the Vortech/Foam Cover as a fail safe for when I get my BTA, seems that it may not be 100% worry free.

Yea I thought it was worry free too. It helps at least because the sides suck in and the stream pushes out so it does decrease the chances.

I always use the foam covers. I lost a cleaner shrimp to the uncovered one once. Now, when I feed, some of the food gets stuck to the covers and my fish pick it off. I'm afraid if I quit using them, the fish will stick their mouth in there and get hurt.

They have to be cleaned every other day or so and you would be surprised how much dirt and flotsam they filter out. It actually impedes the flow after a couple of days. They're probably as good a filter as the socks.

They are pretty good. I should clean it more though and when it's off , the sand blows around but when I put it back on it doesn't blown around at all.
