how many cleaner shrimp is too much?

i have a 55G reef with 2 skunk cleaners already in it. i also have a coral bandit. fish consist of a marine beta, coral beauty angel, purple tang, lyretail anthias, and a maroon clown. i wanted to add 2 more skunks but wasnt sure if 4 cleaners was too much. thanks for any help.

The Shrimp should be fine...Your Purple Tang ,on the other hand, will need a bigger tank

Your shrimp will be fine until that marine betta grows up.

coral bandits are also known to be nasty towards other shrimp. and i agree, marine betta will eat the shrimp when it grows up, or at least try.

you can have as many cleaner shrimp as you can afford or looks good to you.

i bought the beta at a large size. he is very shy and stays clear from all 2 shrimp. my 2 cleaners are at least 2" and well established. i would be worried about 2 knew cleaners seeing that they would be about the same size as the ghost shrimp i toss in the tank. and yes the coral bandit is somewhat a bully but leaves the cleaners alone(not sure if it because they stay away or that they are larger than him). thanks for the reply

and bttrflygrl, i know my tang will outgrow my tank. FOR THE 10TH TIME I WILL TRANSFER HIM TO MY 150G WHEN I GET IT READY. dont meen to be rude but was asking about the shrimp not the tang, and ty for your reply.

Wouldn't have mentioned it if you had the 150 gallon listed in your info.Maybe you should update that

I agree with Buttryflygirl- people should not be surprised if hey are questioned about the legitimacy of their stats. If you were asking about the shrimp, you should not ahve mentioned that you have a purple tang in a 55 gallon. Not to get too far off track, but I really think people should wait until they GET the larger tank before buying the livestock for it. I know when I upgraded, it took 10 times longer than I anticipated. With something like a purple tang, they are not rare, and will be around when you finally do upgrade, so why not wait? It is quite possible that plans will fall through, right?

listen i have the TANK waiting to cycle. i asked a question about shrimp, not about the TANG. i bought my fish wholesale so i couldnt wait. i know they arent rare but i couldnt pass the price . when i ask a question about a shrimp just want an answer about the shrimp(not about what i have in my tank). i can cover my purple tang, she will have a beautiful home. thanks for CONCERN.

myka-got the purple tang for $40.00(retails at $80.00), the 150G isnt ready. had to buy it at the time for the money. that is the biggest tank i have running now. should i have put it in my 30G hex? sorry if i offended you DOOD...

sorry bout some of my rude post. just tired of getting slammed about the tang. some people comment on situations that they dont know about. i had a few beers last night and got rude in this thread. for that i applogise. just wanted to know if 4 cleaner shrimp were too much. thanks for your help. also the beta will be in the 150G tank also.

I answered the questions about the shrimp...And I mentioned the Tang out of concern. When you put that Tang in your 150 and you see the difference in its behavior and you watch how it swims all over the tank, you will see why people tried to bring it to your attention.
You obviously know people will say something about a Purple Tang in a 55, yet you mention it anyway..Seems to me, you wanted an argument.

again my apologies for the argument but i mentioned everything in the tank to make sure i didnt overload it. im going to let my tank and rock cycle for 2-3 months then add the beta and tang. just was wondering if 2 more shrimp would be an overload for that little time and thank you, yes you did answer the question i asked about.
