How many clownfish can I keep in a 90g?

Safely? TWO.

If you're trying to recreate the 27/27 clownfish thread, I have suggested and will suggest again...10, 12 MAX. Even with 10-12, expect losses in the coming 6 months.

Nobody can give you a set number because nobody has ever done it (to my knowledge) except the 27/27 person. And seeing as she has had losses in a 200+ gallon tank, why in the world would you do 50 in a 90 gallon.

I just dont understand the stubborness. A 90 gallon tank filled with BTAs and 10-12 clowns would make a great display! Why throw in 50 and have them kill each other in the following 3-4 months?

Either way, I am done watching this fiasco :) I know how its going to end, and I dont condone it one bit. I have 7 pairs of clownfish, many, many babies, so I know what duncaholic speaks of.

I haven't made up my mind yet how many to do yet but I saw a breeders tank tonight that had over 200 clownfish and they were in a 40 gallon breeder tank. They were between 1.5-1.75" so I think I should have no problem no matter what I decide to do because my tank volume will be over 2x as much and I will have atleast half as many clowns.

Yep, it's just a noob laughing at getting us all wound up. Ignore the idiocy.

You can't reason with unreasonable people

I don't think I am being unreasonable. If you read post #63 you will see that it's completely possible. I saw it with my own eyes.

not sure if you addressed this, but are you planning a reef? corals? anemones? or is this just going to be tons of clowns in some bare bottom setup? I'm asking bc you keep referencing other breeders--and I'm assuming these other breeders are NOT keeping 100 or is it 200 clowns in a REEF....

Yes, I would like a few more details. Lights/setup...etc. What are the long term plans of the tank? Do you just want a horde of clownfish following you around?

We know it is possible but if it could be done successfully longterm, I would have my latz pair and fancy snow pair hanging out in the same reef tank.

Maybe, I want to know how many people pm'd asking where he is getting the fish? ;)

One breeder asked me a few questions about the babies but I did not tell him where I will be getting them from. They don't sell to the general public but my sister is their neighbor and they are doing me her a favor. If I do get these babies, they will not be for sale so please don't ask me.

I would love to have a "reef" but I think I will just have a few live rock towers and have a bare bottom with a few red bubble anemones.

Lights I have are 8x54w T5 VHO, Super Reef Octopus 2000 skimmer, 40g sump with Chaeto. When they get close to 2" then I will split them in half and start another 90g with different rock scape or maybe by then I will have my dream tank, the 300g deep dimension and they can all go in there.

IATL!

Hmmmm...what a surprise. Appears this isn't your first account on here. Your personality never fails to out you ;).
