How many clownfish is too many? or communal clowns?

My first fish was a tomato clown, I've given her mates in the past, she's spawned (never tried to collect any of it), however recently she died due to a dumb move by me with a not-so-quarantined quarantine tank.

Details matter not now, however while doing some moving to a temporary location so I can replace the floor, I did a head count on my rose bubble tip anemones. Most of them are on one big rock that's maybe 18" x 12" x 12" (rough guess), it's somewhat hard to tell how many I have due to them all kind of melding together, but today I was able to count them (removed the light over the tank so they didn't fully inflate) and I found out I have 31 of them, none of them are terribly large however they do inflate pretty well (they retain their bubbles under the LEDs I have over them).

I'm kind of torn between keeping them in a "refugium" setup (5' x 3' tank) and just trading/selling them all. However I'm curious if I kept them, would it be possible to keep multiple type of clownfish in that same tank? or would the 5' x 3' shallow flat just be too small? What about multiple (more than 2) similar species? Or is the fact there would be "31 homes" irrelevant as any dominant clown pair would lay claim to all of them?

If so (to either of those) which types of clowns are the most tolerant of other clowns? which clowns are most tolerant of the same type?

Would have to have homes on both ends of ur tank and i wouldnt try it in a small tank. If u put 2 pair in there at the same time it might wirk...then again it might not...

In a nutshell - no. Multiple clowns will winnow down to a single dominant pair. That pair will kill all other clowns.

Ocellaris clowns seem to tolerate the presence of others better than other species. Members of the skunk complex would be my next choice. I have never had luck with Perculas despite trying to keep them in groups several times.

I currently have 4 ocellaris that have lived together for over a year. They show very little aggression towards one another.
