How many damsels in a 75g?

I have read that yellowtail damsels are the most peaceful...is that true? I have a orchid dottyback and a yellow watchman in my 75 right now....I was thinking of adding 3 yellowtails...thoughts?

IME they are all a**holes after they reach about 7 or 8 months old. I would highly highly recommend against getting any damsels unless for some reason they are your must have fish. They are next to impossible to remove without breaking down the tank. They become absolute a**holes the bigger they get. I have seen them as big as 6 inches. They are very territorial. I have owned yellow tail, yellow belly, dominoe, and those electric blue ones........2 of each. They are all gone and I will never buy one again. The only reason I got them was at the (bad) recommendation of my LFS when I first setup my tank. Prior to doing all of my research..........

I have a yellow tail damsel and he's a pain. He doesn't really bother the other fish, but then again I haven't added anything in a long time and he is making me really nervous because I am wanting to add a few chromis. However, he does bite me everytime my hand goes on his side of the tank. I highly suggest staying away from all types of damsels as they get meaner and more aggressive as they get more comfortable and older.

So many other better choices IMO for a tank that size, but yes, YT is supposed to be mellower, and green chromis I like alot.
Heard Allens damsels are peaceful, look cool.

Have you thought about Talbot's damsels? I have 4 in my 75, they do a little chasing of each other, but are wimps when my other fish are involved.

A little blurry but gives you an idea of what they look like.

When I first read this, I thought you were joking. But, there was no LOLs, or ROFLs in it...

Especially with all the 'How many people have torn dorn a tank to get the damn-sels out?!?' threads, that this WOULD be a joke. I had two (well, three, but the two stronger ones killed the third) in my tank, and I tell ya, I am SOOOOOOOOO releived that I finally got them out... soooooo much calmer in there now.

Check my signature, down there... there is a passionate hate for yellow-tails in me.

Damsels are Satan's spawn! Green Chromis are about the only damsel other than a clownfish that I'd put in my reef.

How many damsels in a 75g?

zero

don't even think about listening to what they say at the petstore. don't you dare spend countless dollars on lighting and filtration and put a four dollar fish in there. the rebukes and i told you so's will flow like a river during a torrential downpour.
i dont care how nice they look.

or do this...

1. get ten gallon tank
2. get skilter power filter
3. fill tank with aforementioned damsels

you will get much more enjoyment from them this way, they will look just like they do at the pet store and you wont kill your prizewinning corals when you decide its time to take them back to that pet store.

I guess I'm pretty lucky. I regretfully cycled my tank with mine 5 years ago. This pic. is from 4 years ago. He is such a slow grower that I'm amazed. He now shares the tank with a yellow tang, Royal gramma, Talbots damsel, 2 OC. clowns and a six line wrass. He was my very first salt water fish and I hope he lives a real long time. He doesn't bother anyone and all my fish are between 5 years and 3 years with me except one of the clowns that I bought last year. The next pic is this year. If you look closely, you will see my talbots damsel facing head on about 3 inches to the left of the yellow tail. There is nothing but love in my tank LOL.

Forgot to mention, his name is "Midnight" I think that he is beautiful. I know that they are suppose to get a drab color when he gets older but after 5 years he still looks great!!!. At what age do they change color?? Even when he does, he's staying home.

I personally love damsels. I had a blue devil and a domino that were both almost 2 years old when hurricane katrina killed them. They never bothered anyone except other damsels. I am seriously considering picking up another blue devil for my 15 gallon.
